Welcome to the Class 3 page! We are Year 3 and Year 4. Our teacher is Miss Horne. We are also taught Science and French by Mr. Napper on Tuesday afternoons, and Mrs. Pett teaches us P.E. every Wednesday afternoon.

Number bonds are important facts that we use in all areas of mathematics. We used Base 10 equipment and our knowledge of number bonds to 10 to help us learn our number bonds to 20 more securely so that we could recall them even quicker.

To expand upon the children’s good knowledge of different kinds of materials and the ways in which they can be used, today we thought about the different states of matter. We tried to pinpoint the differences between solids, liquids and gases. We described solids as materials which retain their shape on their own and liquids as those which flow and take the shape of their container. But a conundrum was sand: is it a liquid or a solid? It does after all flow and take the shape of whatever item it is poured into. The children were encouraged to reason which state of matter their four provided samples were, giving reasons for their choices.
