Class 3

Welcome to Class 3!  We are Years 3 and 4 and our teacher is Miss Dawson; we are also supported in the afternoons by Mrs Keith.

We are focused on being independent learners and lots of our work allows us to be creative with the way that we express our knowledge and understanding of what we learn. We are also keen to take even greater responsibility for ourselves and this includes our extra academic work.  Homework is based on the work we have covered in the week, but it is often flexible in the ways we choose to present this information; as we are learning to be responsible for our own choices and decisions.

We base most of our creative curriculum lessons around our overall, whole-school topic; these lessons are also closely linked to our termly Christian Value and British Value focus. These are particularly relevant on the texts that we unpack and we enjoy linking characters’ intentions to the concepts we have learnt about.

We use a wide range of media to explore and research our topic areas, including reading and studying a variety of books which link in with our learning theme. We use Ipads and laptops, as equally as we use the outdoor space; we love working in our allotment and working in the spiritual garden area.

We celebrate our work through vibrant classroom displays which showcase all of the wonderful activities and experiences we have had over the year. It is important for us all to share our work and we are often expected to prepare presentations of our learning for the class. We have a positive attitude and ‘I can’ is our mantra; which links closely to our whole school vison of, ‘together, we believe, anything is possible’.

Handwashing advice

The most important thing individuals can do to protect themselves is to wash their hands more often, for at least 20 seconds, with soap and water. Public Health England recommends that in addition to handwashing before eating, and after coughing and sneezing, everyone should also wash hands after using toilets and whenever you return home.
