Welcome to Flookburgh Church of England Primary School. We hope that you will enjoy browsing through our website to gain a flavour of what is so special about our school and the community it serves. We invite you to share in our celebrations and achievements through its many pages however, the best way to get a real feel for the ethos of our school is to come and take a look for yourself – we are sure you will not be disappointed!
Welcome to Flookburgh CE Primary School.
We strive to deliver excellent learning, nurture and pastoral care for primary aged children within the village of Flookburgh, the Cartmel Peninsula and the south-lakes area. The school motto, ‘Together, we believe, anything is possible’ emphasises our focus on collaboration and community, our belief and commitment to gospel values and a determination to meet the needs and extend the potential of each child, for the benefit of all.
Our school is dynamic in its pursuit of ensuring that every child feels valued and known; has a sense of belonging; and is confident in the knowledge that they are both safe and cared for. We encourage our children to have a powerful and effective voice, and through our empowering approaches to learning and personal development, they develop the skills needed to effect change for the benefit of everybody. Providing the power and confidence to make effective choices is at the heart of all we do.
We strive to make learning irresistible and encourage our children to deliberately reach out and grab it – taking ownership of their learning journey. We will actively challenge any notion of fixed ability labelling or identities, aiming to find, develop and polish-up the talents your child will have, and help shape these in support of others.
Our parents are encouraged to be actively involved in school life, through Celebration Assemblies, performances, sports events, providing additional reading opportunities and the highly committed Friends of Flookburgh School (FoFS). We have strong links within the community, particularly through the St John’s Parish Church, local societies and the local cluster of schools, including Cartmel Priory Secondary School. Genuine care and collaboration are key to working together for the benefit of our community.
We hope the information on our website will give you a sense of our school and answer many of your initial questions. However, we would be very happy to share with you how our school works in practice and encourage you to arrange a visit through the school office.
